Nicoletta Sanzin

Nicoletta graduated with full marks and honours at the Conservatorio J. Tomadini in Udine under the guidance of Prof. P. Tassini; she subsequently completed her studies in the USA with E. Malone (Eastman Univeristy of Rochester, N.Y.) and S. Mc Donald (Indiana University, Bloomington) and then in Italy with E. Zaniboni at the Accademia di S. Cecilia where she graduated with full marks, honours and was awarded a SIAE scholarship. In 2006, she also obtained a Master’s Degree in Musical Disciplines, interpretative orientation in harp with top marks and honours at the A. Buzzolla Conservatory in Adria.

Winner of the ‘E. Porrino’ International Competition in 1991, Nicoletta has won numerous prizes in national and international competitions; she has performed successfully at the World Harp Congress in Vienna, Paris, Dublin and Hong Kong and at the European Harp Symposia in Nuremberg and Perugia. She has collaborated with several orchestras (Teatro Verdi Trieste, Sinfonica RAI di Roma, Teatro La Scala, Accademia di S. Cecilia Roma, Filarmonia Veneta, Opera di Lubiana, Moscovia Chamber Orchestra, RTV Slovena, Tokio Kosei Wind Orchestra, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Virtuosi Italiani, Orchestra Mozart and more). Nicoletta has performed under conductors such as R. Muti, E. Inbal, D. Barenboim, M. Angius, Y. Temirkanov, S. Castriota, E. Bronzi, S. Argiris, D. Oren, G. Garbarino, J. Cassadessus, D. Bostock, E. Saul, etc.

Since 1983 Nicoletta has carried out an intense concert activity, both as soloist, soloist with orchestra and in chamber groups, appearing at important festivals in Italy and abroad (Unione Musicale di Torino, Perugia classico, Mittelfest, Amici della musica di Padova, Gioventù musicale, Purcell Room, Ohrid Festival, Festival Zagreb, Summer Festival Ljubljana, Neuebuehne Villach, Società Veneziana dei concerti, Teatro Comunale Benevento, Sale Apollinee della Fenice, Festival MITO, Festival di Brescia e Bergamo, Pavillion Sevres Paris, Ferrara Musica, September Music Festival Maribor, Teatro di Vicenza, Festspiele Passau, Casa della Musica di Parma, Festival Città di Castello, ERF Festival, Estate Carinziana, Festival Estate Musicale di Portogruaro, Saxa Kammermusik Festival). Nicoletta regularly records for radio and television broadcasters in Italy and abroad; she has numerous CDs to her credit, the most recent being “Viaggio Italiano for violin and harp published by AlfaMusic and her participation in “Nino Rota’s Chamber works” (with the Sonata for flute and harp, flutist M. Mercelli) published by DECCA. She is also very active in the field of contemporary music, has premiered pieces composed for her and collaborates regularly with the Slowind Quintet in Ljubljana and the ExNovo Ensemble in Venice. She holds the chair of harp at the Conservatorio G. Tartini in Trieste and collaborates with the Scuola di Musica S. Cecilia in Portogruaro. She is also invited to competitions’ juries, holds masterclasses, collaborates with the harp magazine In Chordis and is the Italian correspondent of the World Harp Congress Review.
In July 2011 she was elected, representing Italy, to the Board of Directors of the World Harp Congress, a world harp organisation. Since 2014, she has also been a member of the Artistic Committee of the Italian Harp Association.
For the past three years she has been involved in the implementation of the Erasmus+ programme at the Conservatorio G. Tartini in Trieste.
